Abstract

Breast imaging and follow-up should be individualized based on patient age, breast density, cancer risk, and existing breast conditions. This article reviews the main imaging methods—mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging—their indications, advantages, and limitations. It also discusses the role of the BI-RADS classification and breast density in interpreting findings and guiding further management, as well as common technical and interpretative errors and their prevention.
