Fertility-sparing treatment for patients with gynecologic cancer. A literature review.
Abstract
Aim: To review fertility–sparing treatment options for women of reproductive age with cervical, endometrial and ovarian tumours. Methods: A narrative literature review was conducted using the PubMed database. 27 articles in English language published between 2021 and 2026 were selected from 118 identified publications. The most recent ESGO guidelines were also reviewed. Results: According to the literature, fertility–sparing treatment in early stage gynecological cancer can provide favourable oncological and reproductive outcomes. However, a significant risk of disease recurrence remains in many cases, therefore strict patient selection is necessary. Conclusions: Fertility–sparing treatment may represent an effective alternative to radical surgery, however individualised treatment strategy and long term patient follow–up are essential.
