Abstract
Acetilsalicylic acid, an antiplatelet drug, is widely used in patients with coronary artery disease. Aspirin plays a crucial role in managing acute coronary syndrome after coronary interventions like stent implantation. The use of aspirin is problematic in subjects with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to it or with cross-reactions to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In this review, we discuss the current classification of aspirin hypersensitivity, practical diagnostic algorithms for these reactions, and treatment strategies, particularly in the context of aspirin’s role in antiplatelet therapy for coronary artery disease.
