Abstract

Lung cancer remains a major threat not only to populations worldwide and in the European Union (EU), but also to the people of Lithuania. In an effort to improve care for patients with lung cancer and to harmonize specialists’ approaches to the standards of diagnosis and treatment of this disease, the “Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendations” have been published every few years since 2007 through the initiative and joint efforts of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Lithuanian healthcare professional societies. In keeping with this tradition and ensuring continuity, we present the eighth updated and expanded edition of the “Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendations.” These recommendations are the result of the extensive experience, consistent collaborative work, and ongoing cooperation of a large team of authors, experts in their respective fields, and representatives of Lithuania’s leading healthcare professional societies.
