Abstract

Pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of arrhythmias due to the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy. Rhythm disturbances during pregnancy range from simple premature beats to life-threatening arrhythmias. The choice of treatment methods must be based on a careful assessment of the benefit-risk ratio in order not to harm the mother and the fetus. Evidence for the safety of the specific drug in this population should be considered when initiating pharmacological treatment. Electrophysiological procedures such as electrical cardioversion, transcatheter ablation or implantation of cardiovascular electronic devices can be performed with certain safety precautions.
