Abstract

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a liver condition that usually manifests with intense itching in the absence of primary skin lesions, serum bile acid concentration above 10 μmol/l, and liver enzyme activation. ICP resolves within 1–2 weeks after delivery. Jaundice and hyperbilirubinemia are not commonly associated with ICP. This article describes an atypical case of ICP which was diagnosed at the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic. A literature review analyses the differential diagnosis, treatment, and complications of ICP and other diseases during pregnancy.
