Abstract
The perioperative management of the gynaecologic patient taking antithrombotic or antiplatelet medications is based on an assessment of the individual women’s risk for thrombosis, the nature of the procedure or surgery, the risk for bleeding during surgery, and the specific medication involved. This article describes specific strategies for whether and how these medications should be interrupted before gynaecologic procedures, when they can be restarted following the procedure, and whether bridging therapy should be considered.
