PECULIARITIES OF PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH IN WOMEN WITH SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS. LITERATURE REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystemic autoimmune disease that usually affects young women of reproductive age. This disease poses challenges for healthcare professionals due to the increased incidence of maternal and fetal complications. This article reviews the literature and discusses changes in the body of women with SLE, pregnancy planning, and characteristics of pregnancy and childbirth. Methods. Based on the keywords in the PubMed and Science Direct databases, 25 studies that met the criteria for inclusion were analyzed. The main research question is based on the structure of PICOS. Conclusions. Due to the possible complications of pregnancy and childbirth, such as pre-eclampsia, premature birth, miscarriage, C-section, and the risk of postpartum complications, women with SLE should always consult a rheumatologist and an obstetrician-gynecologist regarding family planning during pregnancy and childbirth.
