Umbilical cord care: dry care versus alcohol use case report and literature review

Abstract

Care of the umbilical cord in healthy newborns is still controversial, it is compared to dry care and the use of alcohol-based disinfectants to prevent infectious complications. This article aims to present a clinical case of omphalitis and provide recommendations from scientific literature regarding the care of the umbilical cord and the umbilicus in healthy newborns.
