PROGNOSTIC UTILITY OF CYTOKINES IN DIAGNOSING ENDOMETRIOSIS

Abstract
Endometriosis is a disease of reproductive-age women when the endometrium is found outside the uterine cavity. Although endometriosis was mentioned more than 300 years ago, its pathogenetic mechanism and prompt diagnosis remain puzzling. To avoid surgical diagnosis of the disease, other sensitive diagnostic criteria have recently been sought, and attention has been devoted to the search for cytokines responsible for the onset and development of the disease. The article reviews some of the cytokines that may have direct links with the pathogenetic mechanisms of endometriosis.
