RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AUTOIMMUNITY AND INFERTILITY

Abstract

More and more studies reveal that reproductive system is closely related to the immune system. Altered immune responses, especially those manifested by autoimmune reactions, can affect fertility. This article provides an overview of the links between autoimmunity and the most common gynecological disorders, such as: polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure and antiphospholipid syndrome. It also discusses the relationship between autoimmune and male infertility and reviews the influence of autoimmune endocrine diseases on infertility.
