EXERCISE AND PREGNANCY. IS IT COMPATIBLE? PART II
Keywords:
physical activity, professional sports, pregnancy, recommendations
Abstract
It has been demonstrated that physical activity during pregnancy is beneficial for the mother, the fetus, and the newborn. Nevertheless, there is no consensus on a unified recommendation regarding the frequency, intensity, duration, or type of physical activity that would be most suitable during pregnancy, despite multiple recommendations being available. In the first part of the article, we reviewed the benefits of physical activity and its potential impact on the course and outcomes of pregnancy. In the second part, we emphasize recommendations for women engaging in sports during pregnancy and postpartum.
