PATIENT‘S FEEDBACK ON BREASTFEEDING COUNSELING
Abstract
The aim. To evaluate patients, feedback on breastfeeding counseling. Material and methods. A questionnaire survey was conducted among women who gave birth in the Santaros klinikos from December 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024. A total of 127 questionnaires were analyzed. Statistical analysis was performed using “Microsoft Excel” and “SPSS 24.0” programs. Results. The average age of the respondents was 33.15 ± 4.95 years. Breastfeeding difficulties were reported by 75.6% of women. First-time mothers experienced breastfeeding difficulties more often compared to those who had given birth previously (p < 0.001). Midwives provided consultations to 72.2% of women, and 97.8% of them found the help and counseling useful. Additionally, 44.9% of women were consulted by lactation consultants, and 96.5% of them reported the consultations as beneficial. The results revealed that the better women rated the midwives’ or lactation consultants’ counseling, the more positively they felt about breastfeeding (p < 0.001). Conclusions. Lactation specialists play a crucial role in breastfeeding counseling. The vast majority of women who received support for breastfeeding difficulties were satisfied with the consultation.
