Abstract

Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a synthetic antifibrinolytic agent used to control bleeding in various medical fields, including obstetrics and gynecology. NICE recommends administering TXA to patients undergoing surgery with an expected blood loss of more than 500 ml, including hysterectomies. TXA reduces the need for blood transfusions, shortens hospitalization duration, and lowers healthcare costs. This article discusses the applications of tranexamic acid in gynecology, reviews the latest research, and examines its safety and potential adverse effects
