Abstract

Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) is a clinical syndrome, consisting of urination, defecation symptoms, pelvic organ prolapse or chronic pelvic pain and aslo various combinations of these symptoms. It affects around 25% of adult women and usually is linked to pregnancy and childbirth. The purpose of this article is to review postpartum PFD by discussing risk factors, prevention and treatment options.
