Abstract

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of chronic inflammatory diseases affecting gastrointestinal tract such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. IBD is often diagnosed for people of reproductive age. Its symptoms, surgical and immune-suppresive treatment have a negative impact on various aspects of patients‘ lives. The aim of this article is to analyse reproductive health aspects such as fertility, pregnancy planning, antenatal care and delivery of patients with IBD. Scientific articles found in databases “PubMed“, “Medscape“, “Cochrane Library“, “UpToDate“ were analysed. Results and conclusions. IBD affects various aspects of patient‘s reproductive health. For this reason it is highly important for the multidisciplinary team to consult these patients about fertility, pregnancy planning, IBD treatment, pecularities of antenatal care and delivery.
