USE OF MENSTRUAL CUP AMONG LITHUANIAN WOMEN
Abstract
Summary. Aim. To determine the most important features when choosing hygiene products during menstruation, To analyse reasons for choosing a menstrual cup, satisfaction of its use and side effects. Methods. The study was conducted in the online survey system Google Forms with originally created questionnaire which consisted of 27 questions. Results. 712 questionnaires were analysed. Environmental friendliness, sustainability and non-restriction of physical comfort were selected by statistically significantly more women using reusable products than disposable products or combination. 64.7% of respondents have used the menstrual cup, of which 79.0% indicated that it provided excellent or good protection against blood leakage. However, for women who experienced side effects of the menstrual cup, it was the blood leakage that was most common, for which a third consulted an obstetrician-gynecologist. Conclusions. The most important features determining the choice of hygiene products were environmental friendliness, sustainability and non-restriction of physical comfort. Menstrual cup users were satisfied with its use although blood leakage was a common side effect
