Abstract

Renal agenesis is a congenital anomaly that occurs when kidneys fail to develop. Bilateral renal agenesis is a lethal condition that should be diagnosed as early as possible in the pregnancy. The aim of this article is to analyse renal and ureter development, physiology of amniotic fluid, etiological factors of renal agenesis, prenatal diagnostic, treatment possibilities and prognosis of bilateral renal agenesis. Clinical cases and research that has been done through search in “Pubmed”, “ScienceDirect”, “UpToDate” and other databases are presented in this article. Results and conclusions. Ultrasound scan is the main diagnostic method of bilateral renal agenesis. It visualizes the presence of empty bladder and absence of both kidneys in addition to in the second trimester decreasing amniotic fluid or anhydramnion.
