Abstract

Summary. Aim. To translate and validate ICIQ-FLUTS questionnaire in Lithuanian population. Method. After ICIQ-FLUTS authors’ permission was granted, a double translation of questionnaire was performed according to authors’ guidelines. After initial testing with 10 female patients, further testing was allowed. In experimental group there were females suffering from urinary incontinence and in control group – continent females. Both groups were in the 40–70 age range and they were attending the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno klinikos Gynaecology and Urology outpatient department from 1st September 2017 to 1st September 2019. Both groups completed questionnaire on first visit and then again after two months. From 228 female patients in both groups, 225 have returned completed questionnaire. Response rate was 98.6%. Results. Lithuanian version of ICIQ-FLUTS internal consistency was 0.829, and separate parts were greater than 0.7. This shows sufficient internal compatibility and reliability. Test–retest showed stability in time. Pearson correlation coefficient was r=0,889, in filling, voiding and incontinence parts were greater than 0.75. All correlations were statistically significant. Confirmatory factor analysis of ICIQ-FLUTS showed sufficient factor compliance CFI = 0.891, NFI = 0.906, RMSEA = 0.093. Three factors: filling, voiding and incontinence well described structure of questionnaire. The ROC curve showed an area under curve 0.942, p = 0.015. Optimal cutoff score ≥4 had good identification of urinary incontinence (positive prognostic value 80%, sensitivity 95.7% and a specificity 83.8%). Conclusion. After our research we can confirm that Lithuanian ICIQ-FLUTS version is appropriate to assess female urinary incontinence symptoms for research and clinical practice.
